This session will look at a process with an in-house tool developed among other things with Autodesk Platform Services technologies allowing users to inject a Revit /IFC model into Power BI in just minutes, in order to visualize and exploit the data for different use cases (engineering and site work team). In this session, we'll view and export Bill of Quantities, check the data (automatic coloration depending of the value of the data), link to another database as an SOA (schedule of accommodation) to compare with the model and track it, and link to the schedule of the project to do a "4D."

VINCI—a world leader in concessions, energy, and construction—has been using Autodesk software to help streamline its operations and drive its international expansion. With a platform approach, Revit customizations, and building information modeling (BIM) as a standard practice, VINCI has achieved significant time savings of more than 30,000 hours annually, and captured more business abroad. In Q4, VINCI renewed its fourth Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA) with Autodesk, expanding deployment of Autodesk Construction Cloud on major projects to further integrate data and workflows and ensure a seamless transition from design through construction. Together, the VINCI BIM team and the Autodesk Consulting team improved use of these tools by implementing and improving processes and creating customized plug-ins. The latter allow us to match all needs inside our company, which has lots of different disciplines and as many demands.

Model-based technology can virtually identify and eliminate clashes. Unfortunately, that doesn't always translate to accurate, conflict-free layouts on the jobsite, especially when done separately by each trade contractor. New research from Dodge Construction Network shows that this traditional noncollaborative approach to jobsite layout is inherently inefficient, and frequently generates cross-trade conflicts and construction errors that cause multiple quality, safety, productivity, cost, and schedule issues. The research further shows that more-coordinated and collaborative multitrade processes greatly improve outcomes for everyone involved, especially when taking advantage of exciting new automation technologies that use model data.

India's oldest construction company was established in 1865. Learn how it's swiftly adapting to the ongoing advancements in cloud-based common data environment (CDE) platforms for efficiently managing highly fragmented construction data generated on a large-scale project in Mumbai, India. In a traditional setup, more than 200 hours of additional time is spent per month across five functions and 12 roles, leading to multiple layers of duplicity of information and data entry. In an attempt to drastically reduce this time spent, the project team has adopted Autodesk Construction Cloud to create powerful workflows that successfully connect teams across various functions, leading to a significant improvement in data transparency and accessibility, and thus closing the gap between site and the project management office. In this session, discover how throughout the last 18 months the platform has been used to create and manage more than 90,000 assets, 9,000 forms, 6,500 files, 1,000 reviews, 600 transmittals, 500 issues, and 50 RFIs—with very little change management involved.

However, this approach can lead to a lot of RFIs and rework—and an overall quality reduction. Claims and disputes are common. However legal fees and arbitration/litigation costs involved in pursuing claims can put businesses under immense financial strain. This is particularly true when records are unclear or onerous to work with. Where evidence is unclear, the time and cost involved in resolving disputes can skyrocket. Over the past decade, HKA has helped clients use digital evidence to their advantage in dispute resolution. On rail infrastructure projects, consultants provide tunnel ring models for entire alignment, created using a two-point adaptive family based on the track center point via Dynamo. But these models lack detailed tunnel features—segmentation and dimple holes. Coordination with stakeholders requires complete tunnel models with segmentation and dimple holes. We must develop this detailed model to accurately place services brackets along the tunnel. The ring comprises eight segments, including a key segment with a varying location. A family of these segments, with a rotation parameter set by the tunnel's center point, is essential. Our process involves deriving the tunnel's center from track center points using geometric translations. Dynamo makes placement points for adaptive components. The angle of rotation is recorded on the site for the key segment in XYZ, and we develop construction model using that data. This construction model aids subcontractor in accurate service modeling.

The infrastructure design industry has long struggled to minimize environmental impact. Traditional processes cause inefficiencies, hindering early-stage sustainability prioritization. ORIS and Sweco solved this by embedding ORIS's carbon assessment and emissions modeling capabilities into Autodesk Civil 3D software. ORIS's certified calculator streamlines processes, providing comprehensive impact assessments and quantifying embodied carbon emissions for road designs. The innovative plug-in connects drawings to local material sites in ORIS, empowering whole-lifecycle carbon assessments with visualized supply chains. It automates geolocated project generation linked to ORIS's database, identifies quantities per 3D object for bills of materials, and generates accurate carbon footprints based on required materials. Designers can make informed sustainable-sourcing decisions, reducing emissions while promoting local solutions and recycling. This integration solves long-standing sustainability challenges.

A single source of truth is critical for information exchanges in rail and urban large complex projects involving diverse disciplines—from highways, structures, and architecture to dry and wet utilities. It allows enhanced real-time coordination and supports sustainability through carbon tracking. This case study will discuss how SYSTRA adopted this approach for large-scale, industrial, city infrastructure projects spanning more than 45 square kilometers and housing 90,000 people. This presentation will address the issues of data integrity, accessibility, and cross-stakeholders collaboration, with an emphasis on the solutions to enhance the analysis of data and the resilience of systems. This session will also offer insights into future rail advances, with a particular focus on how digital twins can be used in the evolution of railway operations into intelligent, secure, and environmentally conscious systems.

This session will explore the tool for automatic generation of 3D rebar shop drawing utilizing Revit. The tool uses parametric modeling to create complicated rebar shop drawings twice as fast as conventional methods. When applied to a diaphragm wall of the subway project, the tool achieved a labor cost reduction of 150,000 USD. In addition, the speeding up of the shop drawing creation process enabled a more rational design with more detailed design cross-sections, and a 10% reduction in rebar material compared to the initial design. To improve the efficiency of the subsequent rebar processing process, trials are underway to link rebar information in Revit with rebar processing machines. In large-scale infrastructure projects, activities related to reinforcement (such as drawing, fabrication, and assembly) significantly impact the schedules and costs. This tool is expected to contribute to solving human resource issues and to sustainability by reducing material losses.

The building information modeling (BIM) concept of design and delivery is maturing and ever-greater projects are being developed. This trend is especially noticeable in infrastructure projects, where collaboration, automation, and advantages of 3D design play a critical role. This session will introduce you to the SOFiSTiK Bridge + Infrastructure Modeler (SBIM), a well-established application for Revit that helps you create linear structures. We'll present various functionalities together with project examples from industry leaders. We'll also focus on the modeling of reinforcement and prestressing for concrete bridges. Parametric profile-based design is taken to the next level with enriched information for rebars and tendons. It gives you more flexibility and custom levels of parametrization. Everything is controlled and adjusted with user-friendly input. Rebar and tendon annotations, elevation schedules, and other model-based information can be extracted and shared with other stakeholders.
